Logger's Day

Logger's day at Marten River Provincial Park was a resounding success. The competitions, games, food and entertainment was enjoyed by all.
Once again the singing group "Freshwater Trade" entertained everybody admirably during the day and then later on in their evening show.
The blackpowder club from Sudbury were fun to watch and were very "loud" you had to plug your ears when then set off the cannon. The children were put through their drills and were discharged with honours.
The demonstrations were interesting and the competions were fierce. The loggers lunch was enjoyed by many people.
Joe and the staff at the park want to thank all the volunteers who helped out. Without them this event could not take place.
The pancake breakfast the next morning was well attended and delicious as usual. I cannot believe how organized the volunteers are getting the food out hot and tasty.
I turned out to be a very good weekend.

Relaxing and Enjoying The Conversation Posted by Picasa
On Sunday July 2nd the Marten River Fire Department hosted an all you can eat pancake and sausage breakfast at the Rockpine Motel & Restaurant. It was a great success and was very well attended.
On the same day I went to a 60th birthday celebration for Albert Cloet, arranged and put on by Dorothy Cloet and their family. It was wonderful to see some of the sisters there. The food was delicious and we all had a great time.
On Saturday July 15th, the Marten River Provincial Park will be hosting their 16th annual Logger's Day. There will be contests and activities for the children and a logger's lunch and refreshments which can be purchased for a nominal fee. There will be a black powder demonstration, musical entertainment put on by "Freshwater Trade", and chainsaw demonstrations. There will also be a pancake breakfast on Sunday morning at the park at the Logging Museum. I hope to see many of you there.
On Sunday July 23rd, the Marten River Fire Department will be hosting their 5th annual pork barbecue at the fire hall between 5 and 7 pm. The price is $10.00 adults, $5.00 children (5 to 12 yrs) and under 5 years free.
