Finale Dinner
For some of us, we will not see each other till next fall. To those women, I wish them a fun and successful season with relatives and friends and may your businesses thrive.
Boy, did we have a hoot or what! We each brought in a wedding picture. Carol put them in a box and picked out one at a time and passed it around, and then everybody had to guess who's picture it was. Some of them were really hard, as many were 40 or more years ago. Dinner was scrumptious, with a prime rib roast being the star of the meal.
Next week Joanne Myers will be hosting a meeting at her house for those women that would be interested in working on a quilt block over the summer for a fundraiser for next year. I hope to see some of you there.
Congrats to Joan and Ollie on their recording of a CD of the official song for Temagami. It all sounds so exciting and I can't wait to get a copy of it.
I will try to get out to as many events as possible (now that I have wheels!!! yeah!!!) during this summer and I'm looking forward to seeing many of you out and about.

Daffodil Luncheon
Another successful Daffodil Tea was held on Wed. April 12th at the Fire Hall in Marten River. Many women from the nearby Temagami and Tilden Lake areas were there. It's so nice to have their support. With the help of many, the food was delicious and plentiful and the fire hall was transformed into a beautiful room for our luncheon.
The entertainment was spectacular as usual. We were entertained by Bunny Miller and Shirley Lavene from Temagami with their colourful costumes and comedic dancing. Denise Cracknell, first violinist from the North Bay Symphony, played some beautiful selections of music. She is one of 25 violinists chosen from across Canada to be part of the National Youth Orchestra, which is going on an East Coast Tour this summer, with their final concert on Aug. 8th at Roy Thomson Hall in Toronto. Carol Andrews (aka. Minnie Pearl) graced us with some tunes with her wonderful singing accompanied by her guitar.
Lois Livingston had her beautiful artwork on display again this year and Cathy Stroud, our Avon representative, had a display of sunscreens which we should always be using when we are outdoors.
It was a great day to visit with friends and acquaintances while raising money for the cancer society.
A group of Ladies from the Friendly Group in Temagami are entering a 10 member team in the Relay For Life for the cancer society in North Bay in June, and have been raising money for sponsorships to enter. They have held a "Day Spa" and are having a car wash on May 6th. They also will be having a ham and scallop potato dinner for $6. per person on May 7th from 5 to 7 pm. at the Temagami Legion.

Spa Day & Preparations for Daffodil Luncheon
Yesterday some of us in our sister's group travelled to Temagami on a beautiful spring day for a "Beauty Spa" where we were fed, pampered and prettied up. A group of women from Temagami have gotten together and called themselves the "Dammit Dolls". It's a looseknit group that meets for company, fun, helping each other out and raising money for good causes. The spa day was to raise money for the cancer society. We left Temagami some of us sporting lovely green hair and sparkly finger nails feeling refreshed and renewed. We even had our tea leaves read with some interesting results.
Preparations are underway for the Daffodil Luncheon which is Wed. Apr. 12th. Tuesday at 1 pm., we are meeting to decorate the fire hall and set things up. We are looking forward to it being a successful tea to raise money for the cancer society, besides it being an enjoyable way to get together and visit with our neighbours and friends.
See you there.
